Karl E. Wood
Karl E. Wood (1944–2000, Winnipeg, Manitoba) was a Canadian painter recognized for his realist depictions of the western landscape. Beginning his career in Vancouver in the 1960s, he later lived in British Columbia and Alberta, where the nearby mountains inspired his art. Preferring early spring, fall, and winter, he worked on location to capture the land with honesty and restraint, using rich earth tones and subtle greys to convey strength, clarity, and the stark beauty of nature.
