Havre De Calme

André Pleau (b. 1950) is a self-taught Quebec painter known for his bold, impasto technique and emotive use of the palette knife. Working without preparatory sketches, he builds textured compositions through instinctive, gestural strokes. His landscapes reflect a visceral response to nature, shaped by years of observation and physical engagement with the terrain. Pleau’s work conveys both movement and memory with striking immediacy.
