Derriere L'eglise

Mario Mauro (1920–1985, Rivignano, Italy) studied at the Spillimbergo and Brera academies before immigrating to Québec in 1950. Initially devoted to religious art, he created mosaics, stained glass, and frescoes in churches across Canada. He later turned to landscape painting, drawing inspiration from the Charlevoix region. Mauro’s refined technique and sense of light defined a career that bridged sacred art and modern Canadian landscape painting.
