Richard Montpetit

Richard Montpetit

Richard Montpetit (b. 1950, Montreal, Quebec), son of artist Rolland Montpetit, is known for luminous urban scenes and landscapes shaped by extensive travels. Working in an Impressionist tradition, he captures subtle shifts of colour and light—from car lamps to neon signs—transforming city streets into meditations on presence, solitude, and time. Since 1979, Montpetit has held over thirty solo exhibitions, including a major retrospective at the Marc-Aurèle Fortin Museum.
