Doria Moodie Profile Photo
Doria is a full-time artist based in Whistler, BC.  Since she first visited the Great Bear Rainforest 12 years ago,  she has become a strong advocate for grizzly bears and is on the board of the Grizzly Bear Foundation, as well as being their official artist. One percent of her sales goes to support the GBF which does important work to ensure the long term survival of grizzlies as a keystone species.  Her intimate portraits of bears that she (or a friend) has observed and photographed hopefully show their intelligence and ability to coexist with humans when treated with respect. She has been the artist in residence at several bear viewing lodges in BC.
Doria’s interest in art began early in life with Saturday morning art classes at the Vancouver Art Gallery. She has always loved drawing faces, believing that  eyes reveal so much about a person (or other animal). Doria left her teaching career 17 years ago and began to paint mostly in acrylics, taking many classes and workshops with master artists. She now has a studio in Whistler and paints not only bears but also large landscapes and sometimes people. Living in such a beautiful part of the world, Doria endeavors to express her reverence for nature in her work. She is an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a founding member of Whistler Out of Bounds Artists. Doria is thrilled to have her work in homes around the world.
