Guido Molinari (1933–2004, Montreal, Quebec) was a pioneering abstractionist and central figure in postwar Canadian art. Founder of Galerie l’Actuelle, he championed non-figurative painting in Montreal while developing a rigorous practice rooted in colour, geometry, and theory. His Stripe Paintings and Quantifier series explored the dynamic energy of chromatic perception. Celebrated internationally, Molinari also taught at Concordia for nearly three decades, shaping generations of Canadian artists.
