Odette Lanthier was born in Rosemount, Quebec in 1951 and quickly developed a passion for drawing and visual arts as a child. Her mother and father, who owned a commercial decorating business, greatly influenced her creative spirit and imagination.
In 1976, she settled in St. Bruno de Montarville and began to take painting and drawing classes in order to master and evolve her own technique. Odette founded the Association des Artistes Peintres de la Rive-Sud (South Shore Painters Association) in 1980 and through this organization, she participates in numerous exhibitions throughout Quebec and has the opportunity to meet many influential artists.
Always fascinated by the effects of light and shadow, Odette explores colour contrasts in order to emphasize the luminosity within her paintings. Her naïve style, for which she has come to be known, has developed through experimenting with different canvas formats.
Odette Lanthier is represented in Ottawa, Ontario by Koyman Galleries.
