Born in Lachine, Quebec, an elected member of the Canadian Society of Artists, Martha is known not only for her vibrant urban Ottawa landscapes and its neighbourhoods but the Montreal region, as well as impressionistic paintings of orchestral musical ensembles and interior bar scenes.
With a strong community focus, she was awarded by the municipality of Lachine the Award of Excellence for my contribution in the arts. In 2009 she received an award for originality in oil painting at the Circle des Artistes et Peintres de Quebec (CAPSQ). In 2010, a retrospective exhibition of her art work over the last 25 years was held in Lachine.
Teaching painting classes as well as conducting workshops in the Charlevoix region, Kamouraska, Lachine, as well as Europe, Martha also lectures and demonstrates techniques to art and university groups. With more than 20 solo exhibitions, she is the recipient of numerous awards and commissions from both public institutions and private collectors.
Her works are in collections across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Private and corporate collectors include former prime ministers such as, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, Right Honourable Jean Chretien, Ottawa Senators Hockey Association, Royal Ottawa Golf Club, TSN Toronto, the late Josef Karsh, and many more.
