Marisa Gebhardt was born and raised in rural Kemptville, Ontario. She was always drawing as a child, and as a teenager worked mostly on portraits in graphite. She is a self-taught artist, painting various subjects, with a main focus on landscapes.
Marisa began painting various subjects, in acrylics, in 1995, but soon switched to oils. Her interest in painting grew as she earned a diploma in Interior Design; and after graduation she decided not to follow the design career path, but to focus on art instead.
She has traveled across Canada, through Germany, and Switzerland, painting landscapes from her travels. Marisa found her passion, however, for painting the forests, and has lately focused her work there. Her use of light draws the viewer into the scene.
Nature is her biggest inspiration, and greatest love; therefore landscapes and nature details form the largest part of Marisa’s work. She enjoys the challenge of painting still life, and florals, and most recently, she has undertaken portraiture.
Marisa’s artwork is displayed at Koyman Galleries in Ottawa, Ontario.
