Julie Hawkins is a Canadian painter based in Woodstock, Ontario with a passion for bold statements and vibrant colours. She holds a degree in Interior Design from Humber College in Toronto and practiced for over 5 years before deciding to devote herself full-time to her art.
In the footsteps of Mark Rothko and the colour field painters of the 1940?s and 50?s, Julie is a colourist who’s artwork envelopes the viewer. The intermingling of pattern and shape and texture dance across the canvas and transform the spaces they are in.
Hawkins’ mesmerizing paintings feature an intense colour palette that stimulates a positive emotional response. The essence of her collections begin with thematic ideas and are built up with layers of paint.
Julie is married to her high school sweetheart and is the proud mother of two creative little girls. When she is not painting, she enjoys live music, unwinding at her family cottage on the lake, and spending time with good friends.
