Gordon Leverton is a member of several guilds and artist groups including Hamilton Artists Inc. and Hamilton Arts Council, as well as an elected member of The Society of Canadian Artists. He recently sat on the McMaster Children’s Hospital artist advisory committee and currently sits as president of the West Hamilton Artists Tour, of which he is a founding member.
A self-taught artist, Gordon's previous occupations - as musician, writer, and entrepreneur - have helped form his art direction; that of urban landscape and architectural design. Born in the farm-belt community of Chatham, Ontario, his years in the rural southwest gave him a unique perspective on the body of this work.
Gordon was awarded an honourable mention award at the 2014 juried Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, and has received first place awards in the Junction Juried Art Exhibition and the Riverdale Art Walk in Toronto. His work is in many corporate and private collections, including the City of Toronto, actress CCH Pounder, and founding chairman of the National Museum of American History, Dr. Ivan Selin. He has recently completed an ad campaign for FirstOntario Credit Union, which feature prominently in their 34 branches. Gordon makes his home in Hamilton, Ontario with his wife Nancy and two children.
